Royce Howland Print Studio is proud to announce our sponsorship of the Calgary Artists Studio Tour (CAST) for 2024!  Join us in supporting Calgary’s local art scene by attending this exciting event, which runs from May 3rd to 5th.

Royce first experienced the concept of a municipal-scale artist studio tour while visiting friends in Cambridge, UK, years ago. The well-known Cambridge Open Studios event has been running since 1974. When Royce experienced it in the early 2000’s, it had long been a successful event in the Cambridgeshire area. It has only continued to grow and improve since then.

Fast forward to 2022. Still in the on-going SARS2 pandemic, a grassroots artist group in Calgary decided it was high time that our city have an artist studio tour event. Perhaps brought into additional focus by the pandemic, they saw the need to build a new community-focused means for artists and audiences to connect in direct and meaningful ways. From 12 participating artists in 2022, CAST for 2024 now includes more than 80 artists, which is fantastic! Kudos to the CAST volunteer team for bringing this event to life, and working so hard to help it grow.

RHPS participated informally in the 2023 CAST event, by virtue of sharing a location with a number of CAST artists whose studios also resided at the 500 Collective shared artist workspace. For 2024, we decided to more formally join CAST as a sponsor, because we firmly believe in the power of art to enrich our lives, and also in helping to support the artistic community in the Calgary area.

So! This coming May 3rd to 5th, plan your weekend to include exploring the studios of talented artists and discover their unique artworks. You can find all the details by downloading the free app Toureka! or by using the interactive map on the CAST website.  Visit the CAST site for all the information about this year’s event. We hope to see you there!
